I have Internet Explorer, but I keep hearing about how Firefox is better, faster & more secure, if so, how?

I lived with my sister & she bought a laptop & gave me her old computer when I moved out. It only has 256 RAM, so it seems like my computer is always slow. I don't really know much about computers, so I didn't know there was a choice between IE7 & Firefox, but a lot of people seem to say Firefox is better. Since I am not familiar with Firefox at all, I wanted to know if I should use that instead of IE7, but I don't know where to go to download it & if I do, I am not sure what to do next. Since this is my first computer, is switching to Firefox simple or confusing? Should I try it or just leave it alone?

Answers:    Its not confusing at all, I promise.
Yes it is more secure and faster.
One of the great things is that you can customize your browser with add-ons. Its really simple to use, and wont mess with your computer.

Installing IE7 on it would slow you down even more. Firefox is faster as the core is smaller, but really you should aim for more memory, not just for internet, but overall for the wohole Windows OS
it is faster, and much more secure. it also doesn't try to wiggle its way into your whole system. IE7 tries to control your system. i don't like it :P

just click on the link, click the big green button, and follow the instructions.
Firefox is better and very fast but ie7 also better if u want download ie7 go to www.microsoft.Com
IE7 and 8beta are fine if your haveing trouble with speed there is a registry fix for that.

You can download Firefox from here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Personally i use Firefox because it's better then IE7 every way e.g. security, usability and interface. And you can use addons (plugins) [[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox... they have addons for everything from blocking advertisements to editing websites. And how can i forget my favorite addon which is Foxmarks its great if you have lots of bookmarks you can use Foxmarks to back-up your bookmarks and also sync them to other computers automatically and plus its free.
