Answers: Hi Chickenwings,
You cannot "delete IE" as you're requesting. It is a part of the operating system and is integrated into it. That is why you can open a folder on your computer, type in a web address, and have it load in IE.
There really is no need to delete IE, as long as you don't use it, and make Firefox your default browser, you should never have to worry about seeing IE again.
The main differences are as follows. Firefox is typically faster than IE. It loads faster (for most), has a faster script engine, and is just generally more efficient. More importantly, it's safer. You will see a drastic decline, if not complete disappearance of spyware and adware that you were likely getting in the background with IE. Of course, there's also mention of the fact that there are thousands of awesome addons and plugins for Firefox, as well as themes. It's very customizable. I tell every one of my customers to stop using IE and use FIrefox instead, it's just better in every respect.
Hope this helps!
If you have XP or Vista, you can't actually uninstall it. If you have Windows 2000 you can delete it, but I would not advise it.
The only way to easily get security updates from Microsoft is to use Internet Exploder. It doesn't have to be the default browser, but windowsupdate will ONLY work with IE. In fact, even if your default browser is something else, when you go to Start, Programs, Windows update, it will open up I.E. It just a fact you have to live with :(
You can, however, delete the icon off of the desktop, that will not be a problem.
You can't delete IE as Microsoft won't let you. The main differences between the two browsers are that IE doesn't have cool add-ons like Firefox, and IE also doesn't follow web standards.
