Question:any solution to opening links in tab by middle clicking? right now, they open in a new window. i just optimized with Auslogics Boostspeed, could that be the problem?
Answers:
Open Firefox and type in 'about:config'(without quotes) in the address bar. Now in the filter bar which comes up , type in 'browser.tabs.opentab' (without quotes). This will show up a preference browser.tabs.opentabfor. middleclick . This preference should be set to true . True is the default behaviour for this preference. This dictates that when you middle click a link it should open in a tab. If this preference is false, then when you middle click the links, they'll open in a new window instead of a new tab. So if this preference is set to false, just double click it or right click -> Toggle to set this preference to true again.
However, if this preference is already true and middle-clicking results in links opening in new windows...then Auslogics boostspeed could be the problem, since you are experiencing this behaviour after installing and optmizing Firefox with this software.
One of your extensions could also be a problem, so isolate the problematic extension and check, meaning, disable them one by one and restart Firefox and check to see if you can open links in new tabs by middle clicking.
If all this doesn't help, then you can reset the userpreferences to its default by starting firefox in safe mode. Click Start > Run. Type in 'firefox -safe-mode' (without quotes) and hit OK. OR click Start -> Programs -> Mozilla Firefox -> Mozilla Firefox(safe mode) . Now , in this firefox safe mode dialog box, tick 'reset all userpreferences to firefox defaults' and then click 'make changes and restart' . You could also tick to disable all addons as well and then hit 'make changes and restart'.
If all this still doesn't help then Boostspeed could be the problem here, and uninstalling it might help.
I don't use Auslogics boostspeed so i can't really say. Its supposed to be compatible with Firefox and i doubt it'd change firefox's behaviour w.r.t. opening tabs/windows with middle click , but you never know!
