hi

if you need help customizing firefox please check my video tutorial http://noneed.info/player/37firefoxplugi...
YES, no problems and it won't affect Internet exporer. While there are many people who prefer firefox for its ease of use etc, there are security issues with it that need patching up. So you are more vulnerable to malware and viruses. Unlike explorer there are no regular updates from Mozilla to keep ahead of those geeky bas####'s that write viruses and spyware. So make sure you have good protection before you use it.
Eamonn.
Don't pay attention to the idiot above me, Firefox does regularly update.

Yes you can use both no probs. However, because of the following, you should use IE as least as possible

IE uses Active X, by default firefox doesn't
From Microsoft
"An ActiveX control can be an extremely insecure way to provide a feature...From the moment a user downloads an ActiveX control, the control may be vulnerable to attack"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defaul...

United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team:
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone security model,...ActiveX (etc)...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"

PC World:
“Internet Explorer 7 Is Still Not Safe Enough”

Here are their security records side by side

Concerning Phishing protection that protects you from ID theft, Firefox is more private:

With IE's phishing protection you have no choice, ALL of your surfing habits will be sent to IE whether you like it or not:
"When you use Phishing Filter to check websites automatically or manually, the address of the website you are visiting will be sent to Microsoft, together with some standard information from your computer such as IP address, browser type..."
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/...

By default, Firefox with phishing protection does not send your surfing habits to anybody
"With this option selected ('Check using a downloaded list...'), Firefox will check the current site against a frequently updated list stored on your computer. No data about the sites you visit is transferred to third-party anti-phishing providers..."

IE supports webstandards horribly, take the test:
