Question:I'm trying to access my school's FTP server on FireFox, but when I log on it's not like a folder like on Internet Explorer. It's instead like a website, I can access my files by clicking them but I can't delete or add files. And now it's not even working for IE on my desktop PC, it gives a runtime error for some reason.
Anyone know if there's something I need to adjust on FireFox to be able to access the ftp site like a folder?
Answers:
Yeah. Download the fireftp extension.
http://fireftp.mozdev.org
When you click on the download link, firefox will make a bar appear saying that the website is trying to install software on your system, you should say edit options.. and then click allow and then reclick the download button.
Now you should be able to go to tools->fireftp and type in your ftp server address there.
Hope that helps.
You can't do that on firefox.
I don't think that functionality is there in Firefox.
You might try Filezilla FTP Client. Its free and is a full functioning ftp client.
I think you're talking about Firefox's FireFTP.
I don't think there is any way to change it to a folder-based data system. However, FireFTP is easy to use:
The left column displays the files and folders you have on your hard drive and the right column displays the files you have on your FTP server. There are 2 arrows in between these columns, right arrow for upload from local drive to FTP server, and the left arrow for downloading from the FTP server to your local hard drive. Just choose the files you want to upload/download, then choose its destination folder whether its on your local drive or the FTP server.
Hope this helps. =)
