Firefox and the blinking typing thing?

Question:Every time I go on Firefox and click off screen a blinking line comes up after a word on the site.(the blinking line is the thing that comes when you type like in word or notepad). It doesn't happen on Internet Explorer. How do I stop it from happening?

My guess is you inadvertently switched on 'caret browsing' . Simply pressing F7 toggles this feature on/off , so most likely when you press the F7 key you won't see the blinking cursor anymore. Or you can even type 'about:config' (without quotes) in the address bar of firefox, now over here in the filter bar, type 'caret' (without quotes) and from the entries which show up change the accessibility.browsewithcaret to false (double clicking will change it to false)

If this doesn't help then go to the firefox safe mode by clicking on start -> run and typing 'firefox -safe-mode' (without quotes) or by going to start -> programs -> mozilla firefox -> mozilla firefox (safe mode). Over here check 'disable all addons' , 'reset toolbars and controls' and 'reset all user preferences to defaults' and click make changes and restart. Now check whether you have the 'blinking line' problem.

Or you could completely uninstall and reinstall firefox.

Here's how you uninstall Mozilla Firefox completely:

1)Uninstall firefox from the add/remove control panel (Start-> Run and type 'appwiz.cpl' (without quotes) or 'control appwiz.cpl' if you're in win9x and hit OK. Select mozilla firefox from the list and hit remove.

2)Now delete the Mozilla Firefox folder from 'program files' (Assuming firefox is installed in C:\program files, Go to that path and delete the entire Mozilla firefox folder.

3)Now remove the firefox folder from : start-> run-> type in %appdata% and hit OK (this will open the application data folder)->Mozilla. Delete the Firefox folder in the Mozilla directory. If you use only the Firefox 'product' of Mozilla, then its ok to delete the Mozilla folder itself.

Now reinstall firefox and you should be okay.
