Browsers will not surf the net, did I remove some important DLLs?

Hello - I downloaded some P2P software and it immediatedly delivered me a virus. I should have known better. I deleted the program, but I think I must have deleted some shared .dlls in the process. (not sure) Now, none of my browsers are able to surf the net. My computer does connect. I have tried repairing explorer and reinstalling Firefox. No go. I have run all the virus, spy and malware programs, and used "Hijack this". Still no go. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try "ping 127.0.0.1"

If that works, try pinging your ISP's DNS. And go on from there.

If no luck, run a "netstat -an" and post it to some PC help web forum.

Run Dr. Watson and have it do a scan. Search on your hard drive for it, I think its name depends on which OS you use. It's Drwatson.exe on W98SE. XP has rollback capability.

Sounds like your network stack is damaged. It's repairable but not easily. Windows has some tools to help you out but they're not intuitive, you need to do the hard work.

No you just don't know what u are doing that's all.
when i start to have really bad problems with my computer. i all ways find it easier to just back-up every thing i want and reformat.
