where does mozilla firefox keep bookmarks and how do you back them up?

I put a new hard drive in my computer and I need to get the bookmarks from the old HD onto the new HD and browser

Just click Bookmarks>Manage Bookmarks>File>Export and save it somewhere. e.g c:\

Open firefox, click bookmarks>manage bookmarks>file>Import and look for the file you just made.
The actual bookmarks are stored in your Documents and Settings

C:\Documents and Settings\
YOUR_USERNAME\Application Data\
Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
2nbobmgc.default

there are "bookmarks.*" files that you can back up.

There are also firefox extensions that you can use for bookmarks. See: https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?cat=22" title="https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?cat=22">https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?ca...
c:\documents & settings\*user*\application data\mozilla\profiles\default\...

The two directories with asterisks may be called something diffferent but otherwise directories are the same. I would copy the whole profiles folder to the new hd in to the same directory that way all of your extensions and etc. will be there including bookmarks. Good Luck.
