Question:the "This page cannot be displayed" message on IE or it's equivalent with Firefox. Apparently my DSL modem is going to sleep or something. The only way I've found to resolve the problem is to restart my computer. Yes, I've cleared my cache and hit retry and tried other sites. I've tried everything. I've been in contact with tech support several times and they haven't helped either.
This is a modem problem I just can't figure out if some settings are wrong or what is happening...
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem and what is causing it? What happens when I restart my computer that causes it to work?
I have Earthlink DSL with a NETOPIA_4.2.2_1 modem. Any suggestions? This is driving me nuts!!!
Answers:
Have you tried disabling your screen saver?
Do a scan and repair on your hard drives.
When the Internet locks up do CTRL ALT DEL and see if there is anything not responding.
Shut down all unnecessary programs & see if it happens. If not reactivate your programs until you find the culprit.
If you have your hard drive power down after a period of activity disable the power down.
I will assume you have done virus & spyware scans.
