Whenever there is a question about browsers, everyone always says things like mozilla and firefox. I use IE, and I have no problems with it - what are the extra features that make other browsers so much better?
Answers:
I never saw the point in switching either, until our school kept pushing Firefox. I tried it, and now I'm sticking to it for these reasons:
1. I have a high resolution monitor making it hard to see pictures & text. In Firefox, I can zoom pictures & text.
2. Sometimes I view foreign websites, and I use a built-in translator to translate the whole website in 1-click.
3. You can open new pages in tabs, so it looks cleaner.
4. There is a portable version of Firefox that I can put on a flash drive & surf with all my bookmarks & settings on a public computer. Then I don't have to worry about clearing cookies & history after I'm done since I'm surfing off my flash drive. http://portableapps.com/
5. You can customize Firefox to do different things that IE doesn't support yet, using extensions here: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/" title="https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/">https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/...
...and finally...
6. I hate Microsoft.
Some of them are now offering a pop up blocker that comes standard in there pages and there updated everyday day unlike Interent explore that is a one time deal, you update if you want.
The firefox browser has several advantages over IE
-Generally more secure (better protection against viruses)
-Many extensions (special add-ons tailored to your needs)
-More frequent updates (when vulnerabilities are found, they are quickly fixed)
-Blocks pop-up windows (you see porn only when you want to)
-Tabbed browsing (view multiple pages in one 'window')
-Strict adherence to web standards (pages will display as creators intended)
-It isn't Microsoft (Gives MS less power over the future of the internet)
Many other free browsers offer similar features, but Mozilla's Firefox is definitely at the forefront. If IE is everything that you need and want, then by all means keep it. But for most people there is at least something to be gained from a browser like Firefox.
The browser like mozilla firefox are used by users all over the world the source code of the software is known to one and .So all possible security flaws have been rectified in them .Millions of programmers around the globe spend a part of their tim einto building such stable resources also the users can post some useful plugins\extensions to these browsers .You will understand it better only if you use firefox and teh horde of extensions it gives
The microsoft IE has a code known only to microsoft technician s they are vastly outnumbered by the millions working to make firefox a better tool .
Internet Explorer is a free downloadable browser as well.
Firefox, and all other browsers that aren't IE, are not as open to virii, hijackers and other problems. Just a fact, no matter which one you prefer.
If you do use IE, I'll bet a thousand dollars that you do have a hijacker or other spyware working on your machine right now.
Download Adaware or Spy-Bot Search&Destroy and see for yourself. (they're both free)
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Firefox has tons of extensions https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=firefox." title="https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=firefox.">https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/?a... They do add real functionality. The nice thing is you get to choose which ones you want to use, so you use up less memory and processor time. Firefox uses far less of your resources than IE and offers more, customizable functionality. If you want to be convinced, install firefox. You can still keep IE as your default browser while testing Firefox, that's what I did. Now I only use Firefox
Also, you are using system resources keeping up that live spyware protection.
A free browser like Firefox is a multi os browser...
I do use linux and it feels good to use one type of browser on both windows and linux... and Internet Explorer is only avaliable for windows and mac, while firefox or other browser from MozDev is available for most oprating systems...
I have both firefox and IE. IE tripped out on me a while back so I started using firefox. There are some things I liked about IE and there are some that I like about firefox. Really, I couldn't care less about what I use as long as I get there, but it's a good idea to have a backup browser and Mozilla Firefox is the best and most stable option.
