Question:okay, when I click on a link from one tab, it opens in a new tab. I like that. but what I don't want is it to automatically switch to the new tab, because there's sometimes a lot of links from a page I want to visit, and its a hassle to go back and forth. Yes, I can use crtl + tab, but I have to go through all of the tabs to get back to the one I was just at (like, in order)
I already went to tools > options > tabs, and the "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" box is not checked, but it still does it. Please help.

Try this extension:

It sounds like you may have an extension installed that handles tabs, instead of the Firefox defaults. If you look in Tools->Add-ons, you may see extensions listed. If you see any listed that deal with tabs, you may try disabling them.
You might also try holding ctrl when you click on a link, that may open the link in a background tab.
try CTRL T!!
See if you can get it so when you click a link it opens in the current tab. This is how mine works. Then, when I want a link in a different tab all I do is middle mouse click and it will open it in a new tab without switching.
Check your add-ons!
