I'm using Firefox, Windows media player 10, and Win XP SP2
I don't know what I did, but for some reason when I try to play windows media player based movies in my browser they don't work. Quicktime movies work fine... Also my Windows media player won't retrieve album info when I rip CD's, I've already tried Tools>Options>Network>Check all>Configure HTTP> Autodetect, and it does nothing to solve the problem, it just says "You are not online" and the "connect the player" link doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Answers:
Go to control panel
Add/remove programs
Look on the top of the dialog box and check "show updates"
Look for the Windows Media patch
Uninstall the last patch that windows update downloaded and installed
See if that fixes it.
Check the firewall,...see if Windows media is blocked.
Don't use win-media to rip CD's....use Nero or some free programs ( Try Morpheus a P2P for free stuff).
Lastly, re install the windows media if the patch thing don't work. It'll be done in 4 minutes max depending on your pc, and you don't have to wait to get answers about what's wrong. But don't forgrt to update it.,
The not getting connected thing is because your player might not be configured. Try this,...Check or Tick ALL then HTTP (Browser) - MMS and RTSP (none). or CONFIGURE, in NETWORK, and tick (use proxy settings of the WEB BROWSER)
