Comes with more features and offers lots of additional plugins. It's less prone to pop-up windows and because it's not as tightly integrated into Windows as IE, it's also a safer alternative (think virus, worms, etc.).
Downside: not all websites are supported, you should keep IE on your PC just in case.

There is a LOT less chance of spyware than IE. It's almost completely safe. Also, another cool feature I like is that if you have 5 web pages up, they won't fill up the bottom of your screen, they are listed up top and you can x-click them out or x them all by clicking on the top. Trust me, it's way better, only not known so much because microsoft has more money.
