when I click on a file in firefox I got this error. any helps greatly appreciated

You are getting this error because Firefox dont know how to open that file.
For eg: If you try to open a .pef file in Firebox, it will search for appliction that will capable of handling .pdf files. Upon find the associated application, firebox will open that file in that particular application.
In your case, Firebox didn't know the application in which the file has to be opened.
So, my suggestion is save that file in your hard disk , identify the associated application (Search in the google by giving extension of that file). Then manually open the file in the associated application.
what is the file type? or the extension? You will need to provide more information for people to help you.
