Why would anyone use Explorer if they could get Firefox for Free ?

Question:I realize this may seem like a bash at Microsoft, but I don't mean it derogatorally at all.
I honestly want to know why someone would not use
something so incredibly awesome. I have an older Computer, so disc space is always an issue. But with the variety of extensions available in place of hefty downloads I can really do alot of things that I can't imagine living without. Then there is the politically correctness of it all that makes it too good to be true.

why people buy botteled water in new yourk? when the tap water in NY is supposed to be better than anywhere in the world?

so they are Fans of IDIOT IC MS!!!

if you have a older system RIP that crap called IE apart use the following link

i likee internet explorer 7 better for some reason..it seems quicker n easier to usee
People just dont know any better.

Firefox 1.x had some problems... but I love Firefox 2.... I switched a few months ago and I am never going back.
Explorer comes for free with most Microsoft operating systems. If it didn't come with the package I would probably just use Firefox.
Because some website online allow Internet Explorer for it to work properly or work at all. For example, for ToonTown, they won't let you access with FireFox but only Internet explorer.
All the browsers are free. I'm a FireFox user - but price wasn't a determining factor.
Because people who are totally oblivious to everything technological see Explorer, connect it with Microsoft, and microsoft represents good and they want good so they go with Explorer. Or people are alot more comfortable with firefox and dont see the advantages. But firefox really is the better browser.
I think its because
1 people are to lazy to download it
2 People are afraid of change
3they dont know all the cool things
4 they trust microsoft
5 IE comes with their comp (comps running windows)
I like Firefox as well. I just outright can't stand internet explorer. You get so much more with f/f. People just don't know all the bonuses with f/f. No offense to anyone.
Explorer is free with your computer and explorer alwys keeps up with the latest technology. Everyone also knows how to use Explorer, and it is very simple and easy. Sometimes just because something is free does not mean that it is worth anything.
Convenience and Indifference..

Explorer comes with Windows, FF has to be downloaded. The average joe user just wants to get online and is unaware or indifferent to what browser he / she uses as long as it gets them the content they need. IE works they get to their websites.. why should they download something else if IE works?
IE7 is also free.
Convenience and Lack of Knowledge of products.

Most people don't use the Web extensively enough to know the difference anyway.

Have to use Explorer at work, use FireFox at home.

Parents use Explorer, because they can't be bothered.
IE7 is free and so is FireFox. Firefox has lots of great features and so does IE7. They are, feature-wise, probably equal.

Don't worry, Firefox is quite popular and lots of people use it. It is not hard to install two browsers.

I am not sure I understand the "political correctness" part. Are the Firefox programmers more noble, more environmentally conscious, more kind to fellow humans? Not sure there is research that shows this. These days, Mozilla gets some revenues and they are paying some people some money.
I have both for some reasons one in WINDOWS XP you will need security updates that requires you to go trough Internet Explorer also some websites require internet explorer (for same reason they support MICROSOFT) but in some sites Firefox works better . I support MICROSOFT most of the time their are some things that i don't like from them but their is a reason why they do their stuff they want money i mean who doesn't want money
because they r stupid even tho that Explorer is free too
Well IE is also for free. I agree that Microsoft do not always adhere to web standards like FireFox, but some people are too lazy to download FireFox and use it since IE already comes installed on their Windows system.

Besides, this is a matter of preference.

Hope this helps.
they're ignorant. they don't think it matters ,and don't care. they think it's not worth the time.

or they're just stupid. uninformed. they jump off bridges when everybody else does.
You also have to remember that Microsoft owns the market and ships IE with Windows. They also create a monopoly on their update site because it requires you to access it through IE, firefox is unable to open the site. In essence installing firefox would just take up more space on the harddrive because windows does not allow you to completely uninstall internet explorer (for the reason that you need it to update windows). So one reason would be to conserve hard drive space.

Another reason could be the websites they visit. If you have ever played text twist on yahoo games, to use the points monitor, you are required to have IE 4.0 or greater, it doesn't work with any other site. There are some websites that are web browser dependent such as the windows update site and people cannot access those websites with firefox and can with IE. It is rare, but does occur.
Internet Explorer
-free, ships with Windows, and is sometimes required for using a corporate intranet at work. (I've had 2 jobs that need IE)

Firefox
-free, small footprint, very resistant malware and such. (Someone managed to screw up my last pc using firefox, although most don't believe me.)

Opera
-free, slightly larger than Firefox, superb for CSS / HTML compliant sites.

I use all three for different things, but I don't value one over the other because they all have their shortcomings, but excel in other areas. IE7 is just a buffer by the way. I don't think there will be any major IE7 updates. From what I understand, MS is quietly working on IE8, so it will be interesting to see what the new "browser wars" will bring.
