Someone please explain what is so great about "NoScript" Firefox ext ? It controls Java scripts, whats gained ?

Question:it has a setting to control javascripts, ive had it for a day now,and if it's really that great i guess i can live w/ having to click every site.but it seems like every site will have 2 or 3 on each page. i noticed the names suggested that the following scripts would be tracking,or hit counter tools installed on the site. but what i want to know is when should i say no i wont let the script in from that site.what would happen if i didnt, would i loose being able to do anything on that site ?

Answers:
It will automatically block potentially harmful code. Don't worry... it won't take long to get the settings to where you only have to click every once in a while. It remembers the sites you allow, as long as you don't choose "Temporarily allow....".

You may also want to install the FEBE (Firefox Extension Backup Extension), in the event you lose all of your extensions and settings.

Javascript is pretty innocuous, that it because it really doesn't touch the operating system , it can't really do any harm to your computer besides perhaps opening up browser windows.. Most of the malicious scripts came from IE ActiveX security holes.. You really can't use the web without Javascript enabled, so my suggestion dont worry about it.
